Arts Council invite students 12 & up to register for drawing and painting classes in August

POTSDAM – Students ages twelve and older are invited to learn drawing and painting in a variety of arts classes offered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council this August, including a special Pastel Intensive with Diane Leifheit.

All classes are held on the second floor of Downtown Snell Hall in Potsdam.

Class listing:

• Life drawing for ages 12-16 with Danielle Johns – Tuesdays, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 3:30-5 p.m. Draw by using still life and live models with pencil, charcoal, and ink methods. Each class: $15.

• Art history for ages 12-17 with Danielle Johns – Wednesdays, Aug. 4, 11, 18, 25, 3:30-5 p.m. Learn to draw and paint in the styles of Art Noveau, Symbolism, Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism, and more. Each class: $15, plus $8 materials fee.

• Two-day intensive pastel painting with Diane Leifheit – Saturday, Sunday, Aug. 14 & 15, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Diane Leifheit will guide students in two days of immersive experience in pastel painting. This class is appropriate for intermediate students with some drawing experience. $80, materials fee: $16. Call the SLC Arts Council for a detailed materials list.

• Comics Club, Group 2 with Dave W. Ferry – Saturday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m.-noon. Ages 12-adult. This monthly series of classes introduces youth and adults to the world of comic creation. $20.
