Arts classes for developmentally disabled people starting in Potsdam, will run through May

POTSDAM -- Special Arts classes are being offered at SLC Arts, room 229, 41 Elm St., for people with developmental disabilities. Board-certified music therapist Tracy Wanamaker will lead two different series for different ages.

The first class will focus on music and art exploration workshops. Classes meet every other Tuesday from Jan. 14 through May 20 for adults ages 21 and up from 10:30 a.m. to noon and ages 11-20 meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Students may register for as many or as few classes in the series as they wish. The fee is $10 per class.

The second class is Northern Notes Chorus, a class for teens and adults with special needs who enjoy making music and performing for others. Students do not have to read music to participate. The cost is $80 for the series, which starts 5 to 6 p.m. Jan. 27 and runs through May 5.
