Area artisans and crafters who wish to participate in two arts events this fall will need to register this month with the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.

A registration form and photo for the 23rd annual Artists’ Studio Tour, which will be held on Nov. 6 and 7, are due by Aug. 15. This deadline allows time to prepare and distribute the tour guide.

Each year, the Studio Tour provides a great opportunity for visitors to meet artists and experience the creative process firsthand. A full-color tour guide and map showcases the artists and their skills, so visitors can travel to studios at their own pace.

Artists who would like to participate in the Studio Tour but do not wish to have their homes or studios open to the public may join the tour as guest artist at another gallery or host site.

For instance, some artists from Akwesasne will be guests at the St. Regis Senior Center on Rt. 37 in Hogansburg, which is a new site on the tour this year.

Coming up in October, visual artists and crafts people can participate in the juried Art Show & Sale on the Village Green in Canton.

Artists are asked to submit photos of their work for review with their application. If you are interested in reserving your space in the Grand Tent, please submit your application by Aug. 30. The deadline for all other applications is Friday, Sept. 17.

This year the Art Show & Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This show of high quality, original artwork and handcrafts is part of the Remington Arts Festival, a celebration of arts excellence in the North Country.

Indoor or outdoor booth spaces are 12’x 12’ for $45 each. Or, you can reserve a 10’x 10’ space in the Grand Pavilion Tent for a fee of $110.

To register, contact the SLC Arts Council at 265-6860, arts@slcartscouncil.org or www.slcartscouncil.org.
