Artist Isaac Snell to host pottery classes for adults and youth in April in Potsdam

POTSDAM -- Artist Isaac Snell will host wheel thrown pottery classes for adults and youth in April at St. Lawrence County Arts Council, 41 Elm St.

A class for ages 10 to 14 is slated for 3 to 5 p.m. on April 6, 7, 8, 10, 15 and 22. Hand-building and basic skills needed for wheel throwing will be taught. Students will have at least five finished pieces to take home. The cost for members is $82 and $97 for non-members.

Classes for adults will run on the same dates as the youth classes but from 6 to 9 p.m. Snell will teach clay preparation, wedging techniques, centering clay on the wheel, throwing outer and inner walls of a vessel, and trimming and glazing. Students will bring home at least six finished pieces.

The cost for members is $111 and $133 for non-members. Materials included. Students in either class should be beginners or intermediate students with fewer than 20 hours of experience.
