POTSDAM – The Art of Story, an exhibit of illustrations by Catherine LaPointe Vollmer, opens Friday, June 2, from 5-7 p.m., at the SLC Arts Gallery at Town Hall, 18 Elm St.
In addition to a meet-and-greet with Vollmer, this family-friendly event will include a story reading by Sara E. Lynch.
Catherine LaPointe Vollmer of Potsdam is a freelance illustrator and designer under the name LaPointe Illustration and Graphic Design. Vollmer has a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University, and specializes in middle grade book covers. This exhibit of Vollmer’s work explores fairy tales and storytelling.
Starting at 6 p.m., Sara E. Lynch will present a family-friendly story reading. Lynch is a full-time working artist who was born and raised in Potsdam. She has worked with children for many years.
This event is free and open to everyone, and wheelchair accessible. Visitors are encouraged to drop in any time during the two-hour event.
Sales of Vollmer’s illustrations benefit the artist and SLC Arts. This exhibit will be on display at the gallery through July 14.
