CANTON -- The community is invited to the opening reception for TAUNY’s new exhibit “Seeing Red: A Love Affair with Family, Life on the Farm, and the Big Sky” featuring photographs by Carmen Gendebien.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet Carmen and see her photographs at the exhibit opening reception on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 1-3 p.m. at The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St.
In 2016, using just an iPhone, Carmen started photographing the striking red barn at the heart of her family’s farm in Lisbon, in all seasons and moods.
The growing collection of images makes a powerful statement about place and the relationship of human endeavor to the natural world over time, said exhibit organizers.
“I love that barn. I know it means a lot to a lot of people. I sometimes wonder, ‘What is this barn thinking?’ It has seen so much,” says Carmen Gendebien.
Light refreshments will be served at the opening reception.
The exhibit will be on view at The TAUNY Center through Feb. 2.
Funding for this exhibit is provided by Farm Credit East.
