POTSDAM – Art for Animals, a community art exhibit of pet portraits and other artwork about animals, opens Friday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Town Hall, 18 Elm St. The exhibit is organized by SLC Arts, with 70 percent of sales benefiting the Potsdam Humane Society, and 30 percent to benefit SLC Arts.
The exhibit is a mix of two-dimensional work by artists, including Anna Gerhard-Arnold and Michiko Taylor; community members, and K-12 students. Mediums include watercolor, oil, and acrylic paintings, and drawings.
Staff from the Potsdam Humane Society will be at the exhibit opening reception, available to answer questions about animal adoption and the services PHS provides. Last year’s Art for Animals exhibit raised over $300 in proceeds to benefit PHS.
Work will be on display through January 13; individuals interested in purchasing artwork at any point after the exhibit opening event should contact SLC Arts directly.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, and wheelchair accessible. The Gallery is open during Town Hall business hours, Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
