OGDENSBURG -- The tree commission will host its annual Arbor Day celebration Friday, April 28, at 9:30 a.m. at Kennedy Elementary School. The public is invited to attend.
The commission, with students from Kennedy School, will plant seedlings from the Saratoga Tree Nursery as part of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) School Seedling Program. The seedlings will be planted behind the school.
The city government has received notice that Ogdensburg has been designated a Tree City USA Community for the 24th consecutive year. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
In order to be considered a Tree City USA, the city completed four requirements – establish a tree.
