CANTON -- The American Red Cross of Northern New York will host a free health services response workshop from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 19 in the large conference room on the second floor of the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department, 80 State Highway 310, Canton.
The workshop is an instructor-led, basic level course designed to orient licensed health-care professionals to the roles and responsibilities of a disaster health services.
Participants who complete the course will be prepared to assist residents in shelters to the extent their professional training allows.
The course qualifies for 0.5 CEU credit under the International Association for Continuing Education and Training guidelines.
Bring a bag lunch.
Following the workshop, a disaster services overview course will run from 1 to 4 p.m. in the same room.
The course is the first in a series to prepare medical personnel who seek to become eligible to respond to a regional or national emergency on behalf of the Red Cross.
