POTSDAM -- The American Place Theater: Black Boy performance will round out the Community Performance Series season on May 9 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the for kids in grades eight to 12.
The act takes place in the Performing Arts Building at SUNY Potsdam and features fifty minutes of adaptation of the autobiography “Black Boy,” describing Richard Wrights’ childhood in the Jim Crow South.
The show dramatizes Richard Wright's journey from childhood innocence to adulthood in the Jim Crow South.
The performance focused on Wright's hunger for knowledge and his fight to claim his basic human rights in a racist society. Recommended for Grades 8-12.
