American Idol finalist among bands at Bassmaster Aug 8-11 in Waddington

WADDINGTON -- The Bassmaster Festival will include a series of free concerts Aug. 8 to Aug. 11, including an American Idol finalist and several local favorites.

Bucky Covington, a country singer finalist in season five of “American Idol,” will perform Friday, Aug. 9 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Jason Michael Carroll, whose first album debuted in first place on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, will perform Saturday, Aug. 10 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Chris Taylor and the Custom Taylor Band will play Sunday, August 11 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Performances by local groups Backroad Bluegrass Band, Crunchenstein, the Acoustic Brothers, Atomic Precipitation, Lacey Stoddard, Kaitlyn LaShomb, Troy O’Brien and Nick Rycroft are also planned.

The Native North American Traveling College will hold a tribute to Native American culture through song and dance Friday, Aug. 9.

All concerts will take place in Whittaker Park as part of the “Tastes and Talents of the North Country Festival” that will coincide with the Bassmaster tournament.

Other Bassmaster highlights will include artists, crafters, wine and food, a kid’s corner with a 50-foot mobile fish tank, a fishing simulator and a mobile fishing pond.
