POTSDAM -- The North Country Amateur Radio Club will host annual field day exercises June 25 and 26 at Sandstoner Park from 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday.
For a 24-hour period amateur radio operators practice their emergency communication skills, away from their regular operating sites, using alternate power sources.
The goal is to make contact with as many other operators as possible from all over the world. It is also a contest, and points are awarded for a variety of operating modes and activities.
More information can be found at http://www.arrl.org/field-day
The public is welcome to stop and see what it is the club does. Elected officials and local emergency services coordinators are welcome to visit too.
