CANTON -- TAUNY (Traditional Arts in Upstate New York) presents the next Fiddling Bear Concert with Alex Smith and Friends at The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St., Saturday, June 9 at 7 p.m.
Smith will perform an evening concert featuring new Adirondack mountain folk music bringing together family, friends, and storied instruments from the “Instrumental Stories” exhibit -- a few of which will be sprung from their cases for this special show.
Alex’s uncle, banjo player Everett Smith -- whose handmade banjo is featured in the “Instrumental Stories” exhibit, along with a very special family heirloom banjo and boat paddle -- will join Alex for this performance.
There will be a cash bar at this concert, which will feature a full set by the band, to be followed by a more casual jam session with additional special guests.
Light refreshments will be served.
Seating is limited, and doors open 30 minutes before the start of the concert.
A suggested donation of $10-$15 supports the artists as well as TAUNY’s ongoing projects and programs.
This concert will be the last performance in the Fiddling Bear Concert Series. This spring series, accompanying TAUNY’s 2018 “Instrumental Stories” exhibit, features intimate, house concert-style performances in TAUNY’s living room corner, with a special focus on treasured instruments and the stories they hold.
The previous concerts included performances by the Too Tall Stringband, Jane Rothfield, and The Atkinson Family Band.
