AKWESASNE -- Mohawk International Raceway will host races on Friday as Adirondack Power Sports presents the Modifieds, Sportsman, Mod Lite and Bandit divisions, as well as the Mohawk Race Parts Pro Stock Series.
Racetrack officials are asking fans attending Friday's races to wear orange in honor of Kevin Ward Jr. He was recently killed in a racing accident and competed at Mohawk International Raceway several times in the past and was winner with the ESS club on July 6, 2012, track officials said.
There will be a giveaway for the MIR Kids Club, which is free to sign join. There will be a drawing for an Apple iPad Mini 16GB device. Kids Club members must be present to be eligible.
General admission is $12 for adults. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $30 for DIRTcar Members and $35 for non-members.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. General admission opens at 5 p.m. Racing gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
Mohawk International Raceway is on Frogtown Road, midway between the Seaway International Bridge to Cornwall, Ont. and the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.
