CANTON -- Akwesasne Women Singers will perform a mix of original and traditional music Friday, May 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at TAUNY, 53 Main St.
The group formed in 1999 to protect and preserve the Mohawk language through the power of song, as well as to help sustain Mohawk oral traditions including music, stories and customs.
The group won the 2014 Heritage Award.
The cost is $10 and will benefit the Akwesasne community and programs and projects at TAUNY.
Light refreshments will be served.
