LISBON -- The Five Mile Farm, 296 Five Mile Line Rd, will be part of an “Open Farm” day Oct. 13.
The farm is owned by Mark and Becky Akins. The Akins family will meet and talk with anyone looking to tour the farm or who have questions about farming.
The Akins family have run the farm for more than 160 years and are now raising the 7th generation on the now-1200 acre farm with a herd of more than 600 Holstein dairy cows and some three dozen Black Angus beef cattle. A new heifer barn is being added to the operation.
Cheese samples will be available. For more information visit www.OpenFarmSunday.com.
