CANTON -- Alex Smith, an Adirondack folk singer-songwriter, will play a concert Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St.
The concert is in honor of this year's 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act.
The suggested donation of $5-$15 includes refreshments and a cash bar. Born in Long Lake, Smith was immersed in the traditions of the region from a young age, and has been deeply inspired by the Adirondack wilds that the Wilderness Act protects.
Smith was also heavily influenced by Adirondack folk legends Dan Berggren, Chris Shaw, and Peggy Lynn, as well as Canadian artist Stan Rogers.
Inspired by the region's music, history, and landscape, Smith began touring while in college at St. Lawrence University, and has released three albums, the most recent with Wepecket Island Records.
