CANTON -- The Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) will hold a public forum seeking feedback about SUNY Canton's practical nursing program from 3- 4 p.m. Jan. 31 in Cook Hall Room 121.
The college's practical nursing certificate degree program is undergoing a site review. During this review, the accreditors wish to hear comments and suggestions from the public to help measure the program's effectiveness.
The goal of accreditation is to ensure that the education provided by SUNY Canton meets acceptable levels of quality as a premiere educational institution.
Members of the college's faculty, staff and administration use accreditation as another way to measure the success of programs and evaluate the quality of each career-driven major.
The practical nursing program was established in 2009 and is noted for providing a highly respected nursing workforce for physicians' offices, clinics, nursing homes, hospice and hospitals.
Written comments are welcome and should be submitted by Jan. 30, 2017 to Marsal P. Stoll, chief executive officer, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, or by email, mstoll@acenursing.org.
