CHIPPEWA BAY -- The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Ogdensburg will host the presentation “About Boating Safely” May 16-17 at the River Bay Adventures, 97 New Road, from 5-9 p.m.
This course is required in New York State for anyone 14 years old and older who operates a personal watercraft (jet ski). Motor boat operators born on or after May 1, 1996, must have a boating safety certificate and be at least 10 years of age.
Classes are taught by local Auxiliary members who have years of experience teaching boating safety and interacting with students.
Students will be able to see and check out various safety equipment items and will receive the course text book and Federal and State rule books to keep as references.
Participants must attend both nights. The “About Boating Safely” certificate and card is awarded at the end of the second night and is valid in New York State and all other states.
The class will cost $35 per person (a family plan is available). Participants must pre-register by calling Mike at River Bay Adventures 315-759-8174, or by contacting Gardner’s Furniture and Flooring at 315-393-6488, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
