CRANBERRY LAKE -- The third annual Cranberry Lake Art Show will again feature the work of more than 50 artists and artisans from the greater Cranberry Lake region.

The show will take place Saturday, Aug. 11 and Sunday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Cranberry Lake Fire Hall Community Room, Route 3 Cranberry Lake.

This year’s show will feature an Art-irondack Chair auction with artisan inspired and decorated chairs.

Painting, wood burning, quilting, rug hooking will all be featured styles of the decorated chairs — most will be designed to be usable art.

The chairs will be auctioned at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

“We are very excited about this year’s show”, said Gail Gotham, art show chairperson. “Every year we attract new and interesting artists and artisans and this year will be no different. If you have an artistic interest, we can fulfill your curiosity. The show is a feast for the eyes and we take a great deal of pride in the quality and diversity of our artists.”

Saturday will feature a wine and cheese reception from 1 to 3 p.m. where patrons can meet the artists followed immediately by the Adirondack Chair Auction.

“The auction will provide operating funds for the 2019 show and we are sure you will find a chair that suits your home perfectly,” said Gotham. “We expect bidding will be quite intense because the chairs are so unique. We are delighted that our auctioneer will be Todd Moe, arts and cultural desk editor and morning host from NCPR.”

This bear chair will be the door prize for attending the Art-irondack Chair Auction. The raffle ticket will be drawn after the auction and you must be present to win.

“Artists range in age from teenagers to youthful senior citizens,” Gotham said. “Last year we had 17 students prepare their ownphotography show and every student sold a piece of work. This year the art students at Clifton Fine will be creating two Adirondack Chairs for the auction. We are deeply committed to nurturing the talent of our young people.”

“We welcome everyone to come spend a few hours with a truly unique and open-hearted group of artists who are committed not only to their craft but to the well being of the Cranberry Lake region. We hope you’ll come and bid on a chair (or two) and enjoy not only the show but the view of our beautiful lake from the venue,” Gotham said.
