CANTON – The 40th annual Edward I. Moses Walk/Run for Life takes place Sunday, April 29 at St. Lawrence University’s Appleton Arena.
Participants may cover one to ten miles, either on the Ferguson Trail or on the outdoor track.
Goal is to raise $60,000 to benefit the St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund through donations obtained by runners and walkers who are asked to raise at least $25.
Prizes will be awarded to participants raising significant amounts. Prizes include movie passes, Stewart’s ice cream, gift certificates from MVP Sports or Ponderosa, and other items.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 11 a.m.
Last year, approximately $70,000 was raised and awarded to programs that educate the community with the prevention, early detecction and diagnosis of cancer for local residents. Beneficiaries included Ryan’s Wish Foundation, Gouverneur; Health Initiative’s Cancer Services Program, Potsdam; Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley; Massena Memorial Hospital; Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg; Gouverneur Hospital; Canton-Potsdam Hospital; and Jules for Life.
