4-H shooting sports program in April and May at Norfolk Rod & Gun Club and Extension learning farm in Canton

CANTON -- The Cornell Cooperative Extension will teach an eight-week 4-H shooting sports program during April and May at the Norfolk Rod & Gun Club and extension learning farm.

The program, designed for ages 12 to 19 years of age and taught by certified shooting instructors, will teach firearm safety using .22 caliber rifles, shotguns and archery equipment.

Instruction will include firearm safety, basic marksmanship, range procedures and care of firearms.

Students will also be introduced to archery, map and compass, GPS and basic outdoor skills.

Registrants will also be enrolled in the 4-H and the Norfolk Rod & Gun Club.

The cost will be $45, including all membership fees, equipment and supplies.

Participants will use firearms and bows provided by the Cornell Cooperative Extension. Parents are encouraged to participate.
