CANTON -- The 21st Houli Basketball Camp runs from Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 in Canton Central School’s gyms, for boys and girls in grades 2 through 8.
It goes from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday.
The cost is $95 per camper, $170 for two children in one family, with a maximum of $250 for a family. Checks may be made out to Canton Varsity B-Ball and given to Bill Porter at Canton Central High, or people can bring payment on the first day of camp between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Parents will also have to sign a permission slip. Scholarships are available for those in financial need.
Campers should bring sneakers, shorts, a t-shirt, and a bag lunch.
This year they will not offer swimming.
The camp began shortly after the retirement of long-time basketball coach Gerald Hourihan.
Event organizers say the programs cater to different levels of skill and ability.
A typical day will include individual instruction, small group activities, daily games of 1 vs. 1 and 3 vs. 3, daily team games, and numerous contests and challenges.
