POTSDAM -- The 2012-13 season of “The Met: Live in HD” will feature 12 of the most popular operas ever composed in high definition and digital surround sound at the Roxy Theater, 20 Main St.
The series begins with Donizetti's "L'Elisir d'Amore"at 12:55 p.m. on Oct. 13, with an encore at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.
“L’Elisir d’Amore” stars Russian diva Anna Netrebko, in her second consecutive Met opening night, as the irresistible heroine Adina.
Matthew Polenzani sings the role of the lovelorn peasant Nemorino, Mariusz Kwiecien sings Sergeant Belcore, his romantic rival, and Ambrogio Maestri is the potion-peddling Doctor Dulcamara in Bartlett Sher’s new staging of the classic love story, which will be conducted by Maurizio Benini.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, $12 for students, and $9 for age 18 and under. They are available by contact the Community Performance Series box office at 267-2277 or by visiting www2.potsdam.edu/cps/eventpgs/methd.html.
Doors open a half-hour before showtime, and there is immediate seating for advance ticket holders.

• Donizetti's "Maria Stuarda" live at 12:55 p.m. on Jan. 19, with an encore at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.
• Verdi's "Rigoletto" live at 12:55 p.m. on Feb. 16, with an encore at 6:30 p.m. on March 3.
• Wagner's "Parsifal" live at noon on March 2, with an encore at 6 p.m. on March 10.
• Zandonai's "Francesca da Rimini" live at noon on March 16, with an encore at 6:30 p.m. on April 7.
• Handel's "Giulio Cesare" live at noon on April 27, with an encore at 6:30 p.m. on May 12.
