COLTON -- Rain or shine the 2016 Summer Music Series of Colton Riverside Performances kicks off Wednesday, June 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with 12 Struck performing at the Gazebo on Main Street.

The Gazebo, located behind the Museum, overlooks the Stone Valley section of the Raquette River. The backup rain location is the Pavilion at Swift Field in South Colton.

When area favorites Rob Zolner and Bruce Dewey come together as 12 Struck the audience is treated to a combination of powerful vocal delivery backed by solid guitar playing. As a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and recording engineer Rob Zolner is a musician involved in many musical endeavors, including the very popular North Country group ‘Double Axel.’

Over the years Bruce Dewey, as a vocalist, guitarist, drummer, and songwriter, has been involved in bands too numerous to name. And anyone who frequents the Hide Away Café in town periodically hears him perform solo. Debi Dewey will join the duo June 29, lending her voice to the group as she’s done for many years in her church.

Audience participants need to bring chairs or blankets for seating. Volunteers will be on hand to help people needing assistance and the Colt’s Pride Booster Club will have hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks available to purchase.

There is no admission fee. Donations are accepted to help cover performer fees and other expenses.

This year, as a fundraising activity, a barn quilt painted by the town’s Tourism & Beautification Committee and Colton-Pierrepont Central School Art Club students during the winter and spring will be raffled during each performance.

On June 29 a two-by-two foot barn quilt, valued at $100, featuring a red, white, and blue mighty star design will be raffled. The winning ticket will be announced at the end of the performance. Winners do not have to be present to win.

Throughout summer barn quilts are on display in the Colton Hepburn Library, Main Street, where tickets can be purchased, two for $5. Tickets can be purchased during the performance right up until the winning ticket is drawn.
