WADDINGTON -- The 10th annual St. Lawrence International Junior Carp Tournament gets underway Friday.
The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s Junior Carp contest begins with fishing from 7 a.m. to noon, then 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, on the St. Lawrence River at Waddington, Ogdensburg, and Coles Creek.
On Saturday fishing is from 7 a.m. to noon, then 1 to 5 p.m.
The award ceremony is Saturday at 7 p.m. at Madrid-Waddington Central School.
The annual carp fishing school will be held today prior to the tournament. More than 100 young anglers are expected to try their hands at the casting contest at around 6 p.m.
A fireworks display will begin after sunset at Waddington's Whittaker Park tonight.
