SUNY Potsdam invites applications for a one-year, temporary, International Education Program Specialist to support the Coordinator, International Education & Programs. Duties include basic immigration advising to include: F-1 non-immigrant regulations and procedures, personal issues, cultural adjustment, financial concerns, University procedures, and assist in the planning and implementation of the International Student Orientation Program. Duties also include ability to perform a variety of administrative support activities and complete special projects and other duties as assigned. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree, one year experience working in an office setting that was culturally diverse and customer service oriented, ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, intermediate knowledge of computer software and hardware in order to maintain extensive databases and student record, and valid NYS drivers license and either US permanent residence or US citizenship required to serve as Designated School Official. Preferred qualifications: Experience in either study abroad or immigration advising in an international student office setting, familiarity in using SEVIS and knowledge of immigration regulations regarding the F student category, experience living or studying overseas, and ability to speak a second language.
