CANTON -- The Cornell Cooperative Extension will host a workshop on succession and estate planning for farmers Dec. 4 at the extension learning farm from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Presenters include Farm Credit consultants Dan Galusha and Bill Zweigbaum, Business and Succession Planning Coordinator Dan Welch of NY FarmNet, Cornell Cooperative Extension farm business management specialists, and attorney Lynn Fountain of Pease and Gustafson, LLC.
The workshop will focus on farm transfer considerations and pitfalls, retirement and estate planning options, tax and Medicare considerations, how to establish equity, and respectful listening and discussion in family meetings.
The workshop is $50, including lunch and materials, and $25 for additional participants from the same farm.
