CANTON -- A free breakfast workshop to help businesses, universities, and other not-for-profit organizations understand and act on programs available to help them reduce energy use and costs is set for April 17 at the Best Western University Inn, 90 E. Main St.

The Renew St. Lawrence County Business Energy workshop will run from 8 to 9:30 a.m., hosted by the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency.

Commercial, industrial, non-profit, and multi-family property owners will be able to sign up for free or reduced-cost energy assessments, and learn about cash-back incentives and low-cost financing options from NYSERDA, St. Lawrence Gas, National Grid, and Massena Electric Department for making energy-efficiency improvements to their buildings. Organizations that provide program support and business financing such as the NY Small Business Development Center will be available to answer questions and assist building owners as well.

Expert presentations will be made by the NY Energy $mart Communities Program, which performs customer outreach; St. Lawrence Gas, on business rebates and other incentives for high efficiency gas equipment; and National Grid’s small business program.

“The IDA recognizes that energy usage represents a significant cost of doing business and we want to make it as easy as possible for our local employers to understand and take advantage of available energy cost reduction programs.” said St. Lawrence County IDA CEO Patrick Kelly.

Pre-register for the workshop at www.RenewSLC.org or call toll free (866) 495-2959. Walk-ins are welcome, too.
