EDWARDS -- After 26 years of selling vegetables, flowers and baskets, Wheat's Greenhouse L.L.C. will be closing its doors.
The store typically opens May 1, but owner William Wheat, who has operated the greenhouse with his family for more than two decades, said an increased workload has forced him to redefine the business.
"We are closing due to labor intensity for our family and are trying to alter the business to a more manageable level," he said in an email.
Wheat said he is still working out the details on his next venture.
Wheat said he wanted to let customers know the shop would not be opened this year as many customers traveled from outside of the area.
He also expressed appreciation to his customers.
"Thank you North Country for all your support," he said.
Wheat’s Greenhouse is located at 470 Campbell Road in Edwards.
