MASSENA – The Town of Massena is seeking bids on the sale of the current home of the Town Museum, a building located at 200 East Orvis St.
The building has housed the Town of Massena Museum for over 40 years. The museum will soon relocate to the Celine G. Philibert Cultural Center and Museum and the East Orvis Street building will be sold.
Appraised at $135,000, the building is located in a Commercial Auto Related zone.
The town will sell the building through a bidding process. Anyone interested in bidding must visit the town clerk’s office in the Town Hall to obtain and fill out the required paperwork.
The town will accept sealed bids on forms provided in the clerk’s office. No other form of bid is acceptable.
The form is available for inspection at the office of the town clerk. Each bid must also contain a deposit equal to 10 percent of the bid. Deposits will be returned to all bidders except the winning bidder.
Bids must be submitted by 4 p.m. Aug. 15. All purchases must be complete no later than Dec. 31, 2016. The successful bidders will be announced Aug. 17, at the Massena Town Council meeting.
