POTSDAM – The owner of Tap to Toe Studio of Dance in Massena is opening a Potsdam studio in time for classes to start in September.
“I have students from Gouverneur, Potsdam, all over who say there’s not enough to do, and I decided we need another location,” said Brettany LaDuke of Massena.
So she has leased 1,800 square feet at 71 Market St., next to Carol Lee Shoppe, to teach ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, song-and-dance, point, and ballroom styles of dance, along with the increasingly popular exercise dance zumba.
“We’re hoping to begin registration at the end of August to start classes when school starts in September,” LaDuke said.
Renovation of the space will begin in July.
LaDuke has owned Tap to Toe for six years, and has taught there for 12 years. She has also been choreographer for many of the Community Performance Series summer musicals.
“It’s important to offer arts to young kids,” LaDuke said. “They’re not getting enough in schools, with the budget cuts. We want to keep them busy and active and expand their minds.”
LaDuke says she has lined up six teachers for the studio, and could add more.
Her slogan is “Give your inner self a chance. Join our family at Tap to Toe Studio of Dance.”
