Taco Bell returning to Potsdam Nov. 15; games and prizes set for grand opening celebration

POTSDAM — Following much anticipation by many in St. Lawrence County, Taco Bell returns to Potsdam Nov. 15.

Taco Bell will hold its grand opening at 7 a.m. with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. There will be games, prizes, food and more.

The restaurant is located at 153 Market St., the former Scott Ford Building. It is situated on the corner of Market and Sisson streets.

Taco Bell had an express location in the former Sugarcreek gas station on Maple Street in the 1990s.

“I know many people have been watching with anticipation as the building has taken shape,” Potsdam Chamber Executive Director Marylee Ballou said.

Hospitality Syracuse, Inc. owns and operates this Taco Bell. The restaurant owners along with local politicians and representatives from the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for a ribbon cutting and grand opening.

“We are excited to be able to open this beautiful new Taco Bell restaurant in Potsdam,” said Steve Pinkerton, Owner/Vice President of the locally owned and operated Hospitality Syracuse, Inc. “Having grown up in Ogdensburg, I'm looking forward to once again serving the North Country.”

Construction began earlier this summer following a few delays tied to permits. A zoning change required to allow the restaurant there was put off last November when the village Board of Trustees could not muster a quorum to act on the request. Later in the month, a vote by the board approved amendment of local law to change the zoning at 3 Sisson St. from residential designation R-1 to business category B-2.That allowed the house parcel to be combined with the next-door auto dealer land to build there, across Sisson Street from SeaComm Plaza.

In February, the St. Lawrence County Planning Board unanimously approved a site plan for the Taco Bell.

The restaurant will sell breakfast, lunch and dinner options seven days a week. Hours are 7 a.m. until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The sell a variety of tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and cinnamon twists.
