SUNY Canton SBDC part of nationwide 'Start Your Business' social media campaign to help new companies

CANTON -- The SUNY Canton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is participating with its national affiliates to help would-be entrepreneurs through a six-week social media campaign.

America's SBDC launched the Start-Up Campaign Monday, March 17. Through social media outlets Twitter and Facebook, the campaign is aimed at providing entrepreneurs with information, advice, and resources to get started with new businesses.

Local efforts by the New York SBDC, including SUNY Canton's SBDC, will support those participating in the national campaign by offering free one-on-one consulting and startup training.

The campaign was inspired by the recently released third edition of Abrams' book, Six-Week Start-Up.

Throughout the six-week period, anyone who hopes to start, run, or grow a business receives daily guidance, worksheets, and links to free resources. Through Twitter and Facebook, they'll be encouraged to tell their own stories and be an inspiration to others.

Those who are interested in beginning their entrepreneurial journeys can follow cantonsbdc on Twitter, or search the hashtags #6wkstartup and #ASBDC. On Facebook, see www.Facebook.com/RhondaAbramsSmallBusiness and www.facebook.com/ASBDC.

For more information or to set up a free counseling session, contact the SUNY Canton SBDC at sbdc@canton.edu, or 386-7312.
