POTSDAM -- Employees at the former Maple Street Sugarcreek Store were busy Wednesday as the store changed over to a Stewart's Shop.
Service was interrupted briefly as the change took place, but resumed Wednesday afternoon.
Although the shop has changed over in name, the store will be in a state of transition for a while as the store takes on the look and feel of the Stewart's brand.
Stewart's Shops Marketing Manager Tom Mailey confirmed that the store was changing over in a phone message.
Mailey’s message indicated that other Sugarcreek stores may have been acquired by the franchise, but provided no details.
The new Stewarts Shop is located at 26 Maple Street. Another Potsdam Stewart's remains open at the corner of Market Street and Sandstone Drive.
The first Stewart’s Shop opened in 1945. The chain now operates more than 300 stores across upstate New York and southern Vermont.
