Tractor Supply Stores in Massena, Potsdam, Ogdensburg, and Gouverneur raised nearly $1,000 during 4-H Clover Days to support the 4-H program in St. Lawrence County.
The funds donated from the fundraiser help support materials used to coordinate many 4-H youth development programs and activities that are coordinated by the Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Staff.
The Gouverneur store also donates bedding to the youth to use for their animal projects during county fair while shows and exhibits.
Cooperative Extension reports that the St. Lawrence County 4-H program contimnues toi grow. There are over 20 community 4-H clubs in the county with over 250 youths ages 5 to 19 who work on projects such as community service, leadership, animal husbandry, arts and crafts, STEM projects, and many more.
There is a $20 per family fee to enroll in 4-H which covers materials and supplies for 4-H programs such as the county fair, 4-H Open House, and year-end celebration. But there is no cost to start a 4-H club, and there are local educators who are available to help get a club up and running.
