DOL said there were 42,000 non-farm jobs in the county last month, compared with 41,800 in December 2013.
That amounts to about a half a percent increase in jobs in the county.
In Jefferson County, to our west, the numbers were the same last month and in December 2013, at 42,100 non-farm jobs.
To our east in Franklin County, about 100 more jobs were reported in December 2013 than last month. There were 19,200 jobs last month and 19,300 in December 2013, a decline of about half a percent.
Statewide, the sectors outside of farming with the most gains were professional and business services, up 3.5 percent, construction, adding 2.8 percent more jobs, and natural resources and mining, up 2 percent.
