CANTON -- St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency formally dedicated its first building Thursday in the Canton Industrial Park as the “Ernest J. LaBaff Industrial Building”.
The honor was bestowed upon him for his substantial and meaningful contributions helping the people of the North Country, the county IDA said.
His past efforts include serving as president emeritus of the Aluminum Brick and Glass Workers International Union, St. Lawrence County Legislator and a vice-chairman of the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency.
Nearly 100 well-wishers gathered to honor LaBaff, including state, local and county government officials, union leaders, university officials, local and regional economic development officials, former IDA executives and company officials from both large and small businesses, the IDA said.
Speakers included county IDA chairman Brian Staples, Clarkson University president Tony Collins, Assemblywoman Addie Russell, North Country Regional Representative for the State Department of Labor June O’Neill and IDA CEO Pat Kelly.
