CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency is marking its 40th anniversary, and many of the businesses and organizations that the agency has helped over the years are displaying lawn signs recognizing the agency’s 40 years of work.
“By displaying these signs, we are not only highlighting past work projects, but we also hope to encourage local businesses and entrepreneurs to contact us,” said county IDA Chief Executive Officer Raymond Fountain.
The IDA was created in 1971 by an act of New York State Legislature. “The IDA has assisted hundreds of businesses, large and small, to retain and create jobs in St. Lawrence County,” Fountain noted.
He said the IDA offers services beyond issuing bonds and lending money.
“While the agency is more known for its lending services, a lot of businesses come to us looking for assistance unrelated to financing,” he said.
“Some businesses need only assistance in finding the right site for their operation. Some may ask us to help connect them to the right manufacturing or production partner. Others may seek our assistance as they navigate through government entities,” said Fountain.
