St. Lawrence County’s unemployment rate fell by nearly 2 percent in February from the same month last year, according to the state Department of Labor.
The rate fell to 6.4 percent last month from 8.4 percent in February 2015, the DOL said.
That means there were 45,000 people working last month and 3,200 people unemployed, according the DOL figures.
The Labor Department said there were 44,000 people working in February 2015 and 4,100 people on the dole.
To our east in Franklin County, the rate dropped by 1.6 percent over the same time period.
They had a 6.3 percent unemployment rate last month and 7.9 percent in February 2015, according to DOL figures.
They had 19,500 people working last month and 1,300 receiving benefits, DOL said.
In February 2015, there were 18,900 people working and 1,600 on unemployment, according to the DOL.
To our west in Jefferson County, the rate fell by 1.5 percent over the same time frame.
The DOL says it dropped to 7.3 percent last month from 8.8 percent in February 2015.
There were 43,200 people working in last month and 3,400 people on the dole, the DOL said.
The same month last year, there were 41,600 people on the job and 4,000 receiving benefits, according to the DOL.
