St. Lawrence County Chamber seeks nominees for 'Business of the Year'

CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Chamber is seeking nominations for Business of the Year.

The award will be given at the chamber’s annual dinner Oct. 10 at SUNY Potsdam.

Anyone may submit the name of a business they believe has shown a positive impact and creative influence on business and people of St. Lawrence County, and has led to a better quality of life within the area.

Nominations should be sent to the County Chamber, 101 Main Street, Canton, NY 13617; faxed to 315-379-0134; or emailed to Jo Ann Roberts at jroberts@stlawrencecountychamber.org.

The entries should include the nominator’s name, business, address, phone and email, as well as information about the business they are nominating, including why it should be selected by the county chamber as Business of the Year, contact person, phone and email.

Deadline for nominations is Sept. 27 at 5 p.m.

Businesses which have been honored in the past include Canton-Potsdam Hospital; Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers; Penski, Inc.; NuMed, Inc.; Corning Inc.; Potsdam Hardwoods Inc.; AAA St. Lawrence County; Nicholville Telephone Co.; Sunfeather Soap; Tamarack Tree Service; Northern Sharpening; McCadam Cheese; Heritage Cheese House; Northern Merchant Services; SeaComm Federal Credit Union; Kinney Drugs; Mort Backus and Sons and Morning Star Homes; and Coakley’s Ace One Hardware.

The cost is $45 per person or $430 for a corporate table of 10 people. RSVPs are due by Sept. 30.

The event begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Multi-Purpose Room at SUNY Potsdam.

In addition to Business of the Year, awards will also be presented for Community Service and Volunteer of the Year.

Live and silent auctions will also be featured during the evening.
