CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will present appreciation awards to the St. Lawrence County IDA and a retired chamber board member at their membership breakfast meeting March 30.

The event will be at the Best Western University Inn, 90 East Main St.

The awards are designed for board members, people and organizations who have made a special effort to assist the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce in their mission and operations.

The chamber is honoring the IDA for granting them a loan in 2015, ensuring the ongoing operation of the organization during a time of financial shortfall.

“The IDA has continued to assist in advising and economic development initiatives, as a strong partner of the county chamber,” the chamber said in a news release.

The “Chamber of Commerce Day Award” will go to Bob Penski, who recently retired from the chamber board. The award is presented to “a board member who shows a special interest in the well being of the Chamber and St. Lawrence County as a place to live, work and play.” This board member “has a positive attitude, and contributes beneficially to making our organization and this County as ‘blue skied and sunny’ as it can be,” the chamber said in the release.

The meeting will include an overview of the chamber budget, goals and upcoming events.

Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m., with an omelet station and parfait bar, followed by the program and awards from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Members interested in learning more about how to benefit from the online tools of the website can stay or arrive for an Online Resource Orientation from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Cost for the breakfast meeting is $20, the orientation is free of charge.
