St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce offers assistance with affordable health insurance plans for businesses and individuals

CANTON -- Just about anyone who is looking for an affordable health insurance plan is invited to shop local at the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber’s insurance specialist, Suzanne Casaday, is now certified to work with the New York State exchange, NY State of Health, for individuals and small businesses who are seeking plans.

The chamber also has access to plans that will work for businesses of any size, including sole proprietorships, and families. Prices are “competitive,” Casaday has said.

The chamber can also provide the latest information about federal and state health insurance regulations and changes. For example, the deadline for individuals and families to meet the federal health insurance mandate, and avoid paying a penalty, has been changed from Jan. 1 to March 1.

"We have worked very hard to make sure we have the most up-to-date info on this very complicated situation," said chamber Executive Director and CEO Pat McKeown. "If people are confused about this insurance mess, one quick call to Sue and most of your questions will be answered.”

"Because of the Affordable Care Act, the rules have all changed," McKeown added, "but we still offer plans for just about everyone at prices most families can afford."

Casaday is available for one-on-one consultations. She can be contacted by phone at 386-2107, 877-228-7810, by email at scasaday@stlawrencecountychamber.org, or you may stop by the chamber’s office at 101 Main St., Canton, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
