CANTON – Latin American restaurant Spicy Iguana has closed.
Susan Willson and Fernando Pantoja opened the restaurant in spring 2010 in the old Aubuchon building in the Mid-Town Plaza, 21 Miner St., serving authentic Latin American dishes.
Willson said the decision to close came when they were planning to be open the weekend of the ice storm, but the storm closed the door on further operation.
“Financially, it just didn’t work out,” Willson said.
“We appreciate the customers” who patronized the restaurant, Willson said, but she believes Canton didn’t have enough people to sustain it.
Willson said it is possible she and Pantoja could try another restaurant, but for now they are “figuring out what to do with this restaurant and all the equipment.”
