SLIC to establish direct link with Watertown to eliminate TV signal issues, expects project completion in December

NICHOLVILLE – Slic Network Solutions will establish a direct link fiber link from Watertown to eliminate signal strength issues that have been affecting a few of its channels.

The company is experiencing signal strength issues related to its stations that are received “over the air.”

This includes Watertown and Plattsburgh affiliates for Fox, NBC, CBS and PBS. The problems generally occur in inclement weather, including rain and high winds.

Slic spokesman Jeff Yette said problem has been a top priority and has came up with a permanent solution that should be working by December

.“After several days of exploring possible solutions, we have decided to move forward with a direct fiber link from Watertown where we will get the channels from their source,” Yette said in a blog post.

“This is a long-term robust solution that will also provide us with HD signals for the channels in questions. The total project, including ordering necessary equipment, installation, and testing will take approximately six weeks to complete.

”Yette said other options with shorter completion times were considered, but were deemed to be “band-aid” approaches.

“Our goal is to provide the best possible TV experience available from any provider, and the direct fiber link is the only solution that achieves this on a long-term basis.”
