MASSENA -- The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce and the Business Development Corporation have announced plans a “Shop Local – Create Jobs” campaign leading up to the holiday season.

The two organizations have partnered with Stephens Media Group (1340 WMSA, Mix 96.1, and 101.5 The Fox) to promote the campaign.

The kick-off for the campaign will be at the sixth annual Harvest Festival Sept. 7 in downtown Massena. At the festival, the Massena Chamber will be giving out vehicle window “clings” with the Shop Local – Create Jobs logo. Starting Sept. 16 and continuing through Oct. 12, 1340 WMSA hosts a daily contest, announcing the license plate number of someone spotted with the window cling.

That person will have to contact the radio station to claim a prize. All winners will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize “Shop Local” package. The Masena Chamber wants to emphasize in the community the fact that shopping local saves gas, boosts the local economy, and creates jobs.

After the Harvest Festival, the window clings will be available at the Massena Chamber office, 16b Church St., and local businesses. The Harvest Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 and features a variety of activities. New this year is the Massena Zucchini Car Race.
