POTSDAM — A new boutique offering clothing for the entire family, furniture, body care products and other goods has opened at 2 Main St.
Mia Margaret, a shabby chic boutique, opened Aug. 1 in the former Dillon’s Barbershop. It is owned and operated by Lori Durant.
Durant, a first-time business owner, said she always wanted to own a business and had a love for decorating and refinishing furniture.
Durant fixes up older furniture, which is for sale in the store, but says 90 percent of what she is selling is brand new.
“It’s been awesome,” she said about her first few days open.
Situated across from the Clarkson Inn, Durant hopes to draw visitors from out of town and tourists.
“I love it, I’ve had so many customers — I am in a great location.”
The 900-square foot shop offers children and adult clothing, dressers, end tables, chairs, candy, beard oils, candles, lotions, soaps, leather bracelets and “all kinds of of little goodies.”
“We have a little bit of everything,” she said.
She reused the sign for Dillon’s Barbershop, flipping it over and painting the back.
Her main goal: “Be successful.”
“Some day I might want to open another location,” she said.
“The village was wonderful — everything was really easy,” Durant said.
Mia Margaret will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. To contact the store, call 315-566-9443 or find Durant on Facebook.
