Sam’s Choice product recalled by USDA sold at Walmart locations in Potsdam, Massena

A recall has been issued for “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties,” the brand is sold by Walmart, which operates stores in Ogdensburg, Massena and Potsdam.

According to Walmart.com the product is sold at the Massena and Potsdam stores. It is not currently listed as available in Ogdensburg, but may have been at the time the recalled products were sold.

Huisken Meat Company, a Sauk Rapids, Minn. establishment, is recalling approximately 89,568 pounds of beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous wood materials, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion items were produced on various dates between Nov. 19, 2015, and Dec. 9, 2015. The following products are subject to recall:

Two-lb. boxes containing 6 pieces of “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19% Vidalia Onion.” with Use By dates May 17, 2016; May 29, 2016; and June 6, 2016.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The foreign material originated with an “incoming ingredient” and was discovered during production.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

People who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
