MASSENA – Rep. Bill Owens and his staff met with the Massena Memorial Hospital administrative team and veterans’ clinic staff to hear firsthand about Massena Memorial Hospital’s North Country Veterans Clinic.

Owens, an Air Force veteran, listened as staff explained the services available to veterans.

The clinic treats about a thousand patients a month for medical and mental health issues. This clinic offers services in close proximity to the veterans so they do not have to travel three hours to Syracuse or elsewhere for care.

The clinic’s slogan is, “You served us proudly…We proudly serve you!” Veterans are offered services in primary care, mental health counseling, prescription program, nutritional counseling, lab, x-rays, women’s health, photo-ID on site, and a newly established “sick call,” same- and next-day medical appointments.

Each year since the clinic opened in 1993, the facility has served an increasing number of patients. Between 900 and 1,000 patients a month visit for appointments.
