POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Town Council will meet in special session Monday to discuss creation of a joint town-village recreational vehicle park on land at Sandstoner Park on Pine Street.
The meeting is at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22 at Town Hall, 18 Elm St.
The proposal would use a portion of the three and a half acres of parking lot for an RV park with pads for the vehicles, water and electric hookups, picnic tables and fire rings.
The meeting might continue with discussion of the joint recreation program.
It is hoped the RV park will provide extra revenue for the recreation program which is undergoing changes, particularly about how the town and village will handle the budget and administer the program.
The village has expressed a desire to remove itself from the joint program and have the town government handle the Sandstone Arena, the beach on the Raquette River, and the summer children’s recreation program, among other things.
